Wednesday's Hair Growth Tip!

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, 19 August 2009 | 07:18

9. Get adequate sleep!

Sleep is an opportunity for the body to recuperate from a day's worth of activities and stress. Without this resting process, our body -- including our hair -- may suffer. According to one study, "losing sleep for even part of one night can trigger the key cellular pathway that produces tissue-damaging inflammation." In other words, insufficient sleep can be detrimental to our health. What does this mean for hair growth? Well, healthy growing hair begins with a healthy lifestyle, and adequate sleep is a part of a healthy lifestyle. For your hair to reach its optimal growing potential, be sure to rest up!

Sleep is Essential for Hair Health

Written By Unknown on Monday, 27 April 2009 | 12:27

Aside from not wanting to feel cranky, grumpy, and groggy in the morning, another reason to get a good night's sleep is to maintain a healthy head of hair. Here is some information I found concerning sleep, stress, and hair loss:

*Erratic sleep patterns may lead to accelerated hair loss & brittle hair.

*Most of us need between six and eight hours of sleep each day.

*Sleep helps your body to refuel and regenerate, reduces stress levels, helps you relax and is a great hair tonic.

*Studies of male pattern baldness suggest that lack of sleep plays a role in altering the hormone balance in the body that leads to hair loss.

*In men, hair loss is attributed to the conversion of testosterone to DHT in the body. Since sleep deprivation is a condition of our fast-paced, modern life, there is every reason to suggest that the stress and fatigue it causes will result in hair damage in women as well.

*Stress can indeed cause hair loss, particularly diffuse hair loss and telogen effluvium.

*During [sleep], specific hair growth boosters can provide hair with much needed nutrients and support for optimum hair health and growth.

*Sleep deprivation is a form of stress.

*Hair loss can occur as the immune system overreacts in the area of the hair follicle. Major stress may play a significant role in this overreaction of the immune system.

*Sleep is a must have to help fight hair loss.

*Lack of quality, deep sleep cuts away the time frame the body uses to repair itself.

*Hair loss may be one of many symptoms that occur when the body is withheld from the deep sleep that it needs.

*One tip to fighting hair loss: Get a good night’s sleep.
